Alexander McQueen, the infamous British couturier, of the incredible fashion house Alexander McQueen, was an outrageously expressive designer. He had an uncanny ability to manifest his vision and creativity into clothing and accessories that were works of exceptional and unique art. His unfortunate death in February 2010 came as a shock to the fashion industry, all those who knew him well and to fans of his work alike. After his untimely death, Sarah Burton – a longtime associate – took over as creative director.

In honor of his life and in celebration of his ingenious art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York will host the exhibition “Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty.” From May 4 through July 31, the museum will show 100 pieces of McQueen’s work, from his very first collection through his posthumous Angels & Demons line. Some of his best-known work, such as his bumster trouser, the kimono jacket, and Origami frock coat, will certainly be highlights of the show.

If you are a fan of fashion, don’t miss this once-in-a-lifetime exhibition which runs May 4–August 7, 2011
